OHC Level II Training Available Online for Saskatchewan Healthcare Workers

HAMILTON, ON (March 17, 2014)The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) recently collaborated with Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) to develop courses that will provide Saskatchewan healthcare workers the option of receiving their Occupational Health Committee Level II training entirely online.

The two online courses customized by CCOHS include: Saskatchewan Workplace Inspections in Healthcare; and Incident Investigations in Saskatchewan Healthcare Workplaces. Successful completion of both e-learning courses is equivalent to completing the two-day Occupational Health Committee Level II classroom training offered by the Saskatchewan Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB).

Participants will learn how to plan and conduct workplace inspections; how to identify and assess deficiencies during workplace inspections; identify and recommend corrective actions to address deficiencies found during workplace inspections; and how to fulfil regulatory requirements when investigating workplace accidents and dangerous occurrences. Focus will also be placed on how to collect and analyze evidence during an investigation; and recommended corrective actions to prevent recurrence of workplace accidents and dangerous occurrences.

CCOHS’ e-courses are unique in that they are developed by subject specialists in the field, and reviewed by representatives from labour, employers and government to ensure the content and approach are unbiased, credible and technically accurate. There are quizzes throughout and a certificate of completion is issued upon passing the exam.
